Changelog
Current version 1.327.0 · last release 11 October 2026
Release notes for the generators and the site, newest first. Found something broken? Every generator has a Report an issue button.
1.327.0 current11 October 2026
- New blog post: A T-handle for any hex key, and the key sizes behind it. The ISO 2936 arm lengths for every metric key from 1.5 to 10 mm, which screw each one turns, and how the Hex Key Handle Generator seats the key so the groove, not friction, takes the torque.
1.326.011 October 2026
- New: Hex Key Handle Generator. Pick the size stamped on an L-shaped hex key, metric 1.5 to 10 mm or inch 1/16 to 3/8, and get a T-handle, a screwdriver grip or a lever sleeve that fits it, with arm lengths from the ISO and ASME key standards. The key snaps in, sits on a magnet or is pinned by an M3 screw, the size is engraved or inlaid in a second color, and a fit-test ring checks the channel in a few minutes.
1.325.011 October 2026
- New blog post: A lens cap is a standard part, so I built a generator for it. How the number on the lens front becomes a cap that snaps into the filter thread, and why the ridge stops 0.39 mm deep on most lenses.
- New blog post: Drain hair catchers, and the dome that tore in the slicer. Why the basket has a 45° seat under its flange, and the three tries it took to get a perforated dome that survives an STL reload.
1.324.011 October 2026
- New: Drain Hair Catcher Generator. Measure the drain hole and get a basket that sits in it on a 45° seat, or a round or square cover for a shower drain or grate. Pick radial slots, round holes or a honeycomb, 1.2 to 3 mm wide, add a hole for the stem of a pop-up stopper and a knob or an ear to lift it out. Covers can get a TPU foot ring that keeps them from sliding, and the basket has a fit-test ring that prints in minutes.
1.323.011 October 2026
- New: Lens Cap Generator. Type the filter size from your lens (37 to 105 mm) and get a push-in cap that snaps into the thread, a slip-over cup for lenses without one, or an experimental screw-in cap. Put the focal length or a logo on the front in a second color, add a leash eyelet, a strap holder for up to three caps, and a fit-test ring that prints in minutes.
1.322.011 October 2026
- Home page loads faster: the moving strip of model pictures downloads small versions, generator tiles fetch images sized for your screen, and analytics wait until the page has finished loading.
1.321.111 October 2026
- Home page: a shorter description shows up in search results, and every picture on the page now has a text description.
1.321.010 October 2026
- New blog post: 3D printed hose adapters: stop buying, start measuring. Which side of each end to measure, why the label size misleads, and real port sizes for shop vacs, sanders and saws.
1.320.010 October 2026
- Box editor: the divider layout keeps its size while you split cells.
- Box editor: scroll over the layout to zoom in where the pointer is, drag with the middle mouse button to pan, and press Fit to see the whole box again. Labels and handles stay the same size, so dense layouts are easier to edit.
1.319.010 October 2026
- New blog post: Box dividers down to 3 mm, and the layout that needed 4.8 GB. What narrow compartments in the box editor are good for, and how a box with 400 cells now needs about a tenth of the memory to generate.
1.318.010 October 2026
- Box editor: divider compartments can now be as narrow as 3 mm, so you can make slots for cards, bits and blades.
- Box editor: small compartments are easy to pick and split, the smallest cell size is always shown under the layout, and split buttons grey out when a cell is already at the minimum.
- Box editor: boxes with many compartments generate several times faster.
- Box editor: clearer messages when a layout does not fit, and a note when a compartment ends up in a rounded corner of the box.
1.317.27 October 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.317.17 October 2026
- Blog: clearer wording in the post on fillets and chamfers for 3D printing.
1.317.06 October 2026
- New blog post: 25 useful 3D printed gifts people keep. Name keychains, monogram coasters, cookie cutters, spice jars, stands, print-in-place boxes and vases from the model library, each with the size that decides whether it gets used.
1.316.66 October 2026
- Home page: the Honeycomb wall, Phone stand, Device mount and Window vent insert cards now match the light theme.

1.316.14 October 2026
- All generators: the 3D view and the download now check your settings the same way the preview does, so a combination that can't be built shows its reason under the field instead of failing to load.
- Rugged Box, Gear, Knob, Keychain, Funnel, Hose Adapter, Gridfinity, Vent Grille, Window Vent Insert, Wall Hook and Lithophane generators: more combinations are caught while you type, such as a hub wider than the gear, a lid too low for the clip, screw holes that don't fit the plate or a funnel taller than 250 mm, and each message says which number to change.
- Rugged Box, Cable Clip, Gear and Wall Hook generators: a few rare size combinations exported a model that slicers reported as not closed; they now always export a clean, closed solid.
- Gear Generator: with a deep keyway the automatic hub is now wide enough to keep a solid wall around it, and a gear too small for any bore suggests a solid gear, more teeth or a larger module.
- Wall Hook Generator: hooks without hand-placed holes now accept larger screw heads, and a plate too small for the head gets a clear message.
- Lithophane Generator: a thickness range exactly 0.8 mm apart is now accepted.
1.316.02 October 2026
- Phone & Tablet Stand Generator: any shape can now be raised for charging. Tick "Raised (charging)" under the pattern and the cradle sits on a base with air under it, with a plug slot open to the front. The base grows as needed so the stand does not tip. Links and saved files made with the old Ledge shape open as a raised ribbon.
1.315.11 October 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.315.030 September 2026
- All generators: a value that doesn't fit is now caught while you type on every generator page, with the reason shown right under the field. If the server still can't build a combination, its message appears under the field you changed last and the preview picks up again as soon as you adjust it.
- All generators: the "Report an issue" button now sits in the page header on desktop, next to "Buy me a coffee".
- Bolt & Nut, Case Insert, Keycap, Knob, Sign, Spacer and Miniature Base generators: fields where 0 means auto or off now say "0 (auto) or at least N", and a value in between snaps to 0 or to the minimum when you confirm it.
- Spacer Generator: the allowed height now follows the style: 1 to 6 mm for washers, 2 to 60 mm for round and hex spacers.
- Vase & Planter Generator: drainage and saucer apply only to shelled vases, so switching modes keeps the preview working, and 2 lobes is explained (use 0, or 3 and more).
- Miniature Base, Cookie Cutter and Wall Hook generators: combinations that can't be built (an oval wider than it is long, a cutter base taller than its blade, a screw head narrower than its shank) are flagged in the page before you download.
- Wall Hook Generator: the "coat hook, keyhole-mounted" preset now builds, with the top keyhole kept on the plate.
1.314.930 September 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.314.830 September 2026
- Bolt & Nut Generator: very fine threads on long bolts and tall nuts now build reliably and faster. The mesh is simplified automatically, and if a part is still too heavy you get a clear message with a length or pitch that will work.
- Electronics Enclosure Generator: vents no longer open onto the snap lid's skirt or cut into the lid screw holes, vent wall names are accepted in any spelling, and when a wall can't take vents you now see why.
- Electronics Enclosure, Device Mount & Rack Panel, Parts Tray and Drawer Organizer generators: a value that doesn't fit is caught while you type, with the reason shown right under the field, instead of a preview that stops updating.

1.313.027 September 2026
- New blog post: a mount for any box and a window vent insert. How the two new generators work, where the rack numbers come from, and what went wrong on the way.
1.312.027 September 2026
- Case Insert Generator: photograph tools on a sheet of A4 or Letter paper and get true-size pockets, with the camera angle corrected and no measuring. Drag the sheet corners if the automatic detection misses.
- Case Insert Generator: shadows next to a tool are filtered out, with a slider for stubborn ones, and several tools in one photo each get their own pocket.
- Case Insert Generator: tall tools no longer trace too big: set the tool height and the outline is pulled back to its base.
- Case Insert Generator: new top-edge chamfer, sloped finger scoops, and mirror or symmetrise for traced outlines.
- Case Insert Generator: iPhone photos (HEIC, rotated) and large phone photos now upload reliably, including in Safari.
1.311.027 September 2026
- Lithophane generator: new colour mode (beta) for AMS and multi-material printers: cyan, magenta and yellow layers under a white relief, with a backlit colour preview and a 3MF with every part already on its slot.
- Lithophane generator: brightness, contrast, black point and white point controls.
1.310.027 September 2026
- New: Window Vent Insert Generator. Type your window gap and hose size and get a portable AC or printer exhaust window panel cut into numbered tiles for your bed, with one or two hose ports, a foam-tape groove and an optional bug mesh.
1.309.027 September 2026
- New: Device Mount & Rack Panel Generator. Type a router, power brick or mini PC's size and get brackets, rails, a sleeve or a VESA plate for under the desk, the wall or the back of a TV, or a 10 or 19 inch rack panel with keystone ports or a device cage.
1.308.027 September 2026
- Funnel: move the spout to one side for jars against a wall, and add anti-glug ribs so bottles fill without burping.
- Hose adapter: pick your tool's dust port or vacuum hose from a list, and add a stop collar or barbs so the adapter stays on.
- Knobs: make replacement knobs for stoves, ovens and amplifiers on D, round (set screw) and knurled shafts, with a pointer line.
1.307.027 September 2026
- Gridfinity Drawer Planner: the baseplate can now fill the whole drawer, with solid edges that reach the walls so nothing slides.
- Gridfinity Drawer Planner: choose where the grid sits (centre, or against one wall) and the extra space goes to the other side.
- Gridfinity Drawer Planner: pick your printer bed size and the baseplate is split into numbered pieces that fit it, with a map of where each one goes.
- Gridfinity Drawer Planner: you can now download just the baseplate for a drawer, without any bins.
1.306.027 September 2026
- Model library: the phone and tablet stands are remade with the new shapes. Ribbons and arches, most of them with a printed pattern, a truss frame for a heavy tablet, and charging stands that hold the device on a ledge above the base for phones, tablets and a handheld console.
- Model library: stand previews now show each stand upright, the way it sits on the desk.
1.305.027 September 2026
- Blog: the phone stand post now covers the new Ledge shape for charging, with the trough that floats above its base and the slot the plug hangs through.
1.304.027 September 2026
- Phone & tablet stand: a new Ledge shape for charging. The device sits in a small trough that floats above the base, and a slot open to the front lets the charging plug hang down into the air under it. Set the ledge height, its lip, the band thickness and the slot width.
- Phone & tablet stand: the standing shapes no longer cut a cable notch into the front lip, since the device sits on the floor there and a plug has no room.
1.303.027 September 2026
- New blog post: a 3D printed phone stand in four shapes and five patterns. How the ribbon, arch and frame are drawn, why every pattern stops at 45 degrees, and what went wrong on the way.
1.302.027 September 2026
- Phone & tablet stand: four shapes. Ribbon is one folded band, Arch curls over the back in a single curve, Frame opens the wedge into truss windows, and Solid is the classic block. Ribbon and arch use about a third of the plastic.
- Phone & tablet stand: patterns across the width (waves, zigzag, ridges, facets). Every wall leans 45° at most, so the stand still prints on its side with no support, and the cradle opening grows with the pattern so the device never jams.
- Phone & tablet stand: the results show how much plastic the stand takes.
1.301.125 September 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.301.025 September 2026
- New blog post: Lithophane from a photo. The thickness range that turns a photo into a glowing picture, how to pick a photo that survives the switch to grayscale, how big a plate can get, and how to print and light one as a gift.
1.300.025 September 2026
- Every generator: the 3MF lands centered on the build plate with the parts laid out in rows that fit it, so nothing starts half off the bed.
- Text in every generator: Polish letters (ą, ę, ł, ó, ż and the rest) print in all six fonts, and connected script letters keep their joins intact.
- Downloaded STLs load as clean closed solids in the slicer, with no repair prompts, across hooks, pegboard and cleat accessories, cable clips, vent grilles, Gridfinity bins, rugged boxes, hinge boxes, keychains, cookie cutters and drawer organizers.
- Sign, keychain and coaster (inlay): the 3MF assigns each color to its own filament and keeps the inlay seated in the plate.
- Coaster (raised): the rim rises with the artwork for an even top.
- Stamp: picking the logo preset switches to logo mode.
- Lithophane: large prints build reliably; very large panels are sampled a little coarser, and the result tells you so.
- Vent grille: very large grilles with small cells ask for bigger cells instead of stalling.
- Rugged box: width and length accept the full 500 mm.
- Miniature bases: a zero bevel gives a clean straight edge.
- Spacers keep their bore, funnel filter bars stay inside the cone, and the vase reports its true diameter.
- Keycaps, parts tray and hose adapter: inputs follow what the tool accepts as you type.
- After changing a setting while the files build, the download button waits for a fresh build instead of offering the previous one.
- Drawer organizer: the page describes the organizer as one piece.
1.299.024 September 2026
- Coaster (hex): the diameter you enter is the size across the flats, so a hex coaster fits the space you measured.
- Rugged box: a gasket groove runs around the straight walls (the alignment tongue sits at the corners), so a TPU cord or O-ring seals the lid.
- Hinge box: a registration lip on the base centers the lid when closed.
- Threaded jar: the 3MF places the jar, lid and seal centered on the build plate.
- Stencil: the optional second bridge adds a second tether for stiffness.
- Sign (inlay): the border sits flush with the plate for a flat two-color face.
- Gridfinity: divided compartments stay at least 12 mm, and the floor and divider inputs are guarded.
- Hose adapter: the tapered tip stays printable at every wall thickness.
- Cookie cutter: the stepped blade keeps a printable taper.
- Keycaps, Gridfinity, drawer organizers, stamp frames: default walls start at 1.6 mm, so every default prints cleanly.
- Most generators: out-of-range messages name the real allowed range, and sliders no longer offer values the tool rejects.

- Let go of a slider and the preview follows straight away. It used to wait a full second after the last movement before settling.
- A thin bar across the top of the window shows when the server is still working, so a slow answer no longer looks like a page that has stopped.
- On a phone, turning the screen now folds the sections properly. Opening a generator in landscape and rotating used to leave every section open with no header to tap.
1.297.017 September 2026
- The "?" tips next to the fields now work from the keyboard: tab to one, press Enter or Space to read it, Escape to close. A screen reader reads the tip as soon as the "?" is focused, so the advice inside the tips is finally available without a mouse.
1.296.017 September 2026
- The slider under a numeric field now sits exactly on the value the field holds, on every generator. A value that did not fall on the slider's own increments used to be drawn up to half a step away, and moved there the moment you touched it.
1.295.017 September 2026
- Every generator now works the way the first few did after this week's fixes: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it. A slider that cannot show a value, on a field set to auto for instance, now steps aside instead of guessing.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again, on every generator.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.294.017 September 2026
- Gridfinity generator: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.293.017 September 2026
- Gear generator: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.292.017 September 2026
- Keychain generator: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.291.017 September 2026
- Parts Tray generator: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change a number or redraw the compartments after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.290.017 September 2026
- Threaded Jar generator: the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link, an imported file or a dimension dragged in the section lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups, and a screen reader now announces a rejected value and finished files.
1.289.017 September 2026
- Vase & Planter generator: every slider shows its value, and the sliders follow the field they belong to, so a preset, a shared link or an imported file lands exactly where you see it.
- The files on offer always match the settings on screen: change anything after building them and the download steps aside until you build again.
- Messages appear in the page itself instead of browser pop-ups.
1.288.017 September 2026
- New blog post: PET bottle thread sizes. The three neck finishes on almost every plastic bottle (PCO-1881, PCO-1810 and the 38 mm juice neck) with their exact numbers, and the clearance a printed cap needs to screw onto a molded neck.
- Gridfinity generator: the questions under the form now link to the dimensions guide on the blog.
1.287.017 September 2026
- New blog post: Gridfinity dimensions explained. Every number in the standard, from the 42 mm grid and the 7 mm height unit to the foot profile and the 6.5 x 2.4 mm magnets, plus how many units fit common printer beds and which ready-made bins to start with.
1.286.017 September 2026
- Every generator page now has a short introduction, printing notes (orientation, walls, material) and a few common questions under the form, so you can check what a generator makes and how it prints before you type a single number.
- Search results show a proper title and description for each generator, and the site map lists all thirty-six of them.
- Blog posts with a screenshot use it as their preview image when the link is shared.
1.285.017 September 2026
- A new look for the whole site. The home page opens with the configurator itself: type the dimensions, watch the part, download. All thirty-six generators sit in one grid you can search and filter by category (Storage, Workshop, Home, Art, Electronics, Tabletop), followed by how it works in three steps, the principles, the model library and the FAQ.
- A cleaner palette: light grey and white with a single orange accent, thin lines instead of shadows, a true black dark theme, and a crisper typeface across every page.
- The blog, the changelog, the model library and the legal pages share the same header, footer and style, so nothing looks like it came from a different site.
- The download button on model pages works in every browser now.

1.284.016 September 2026
- CAD beta: the face highlight no longer fades out when you zoom in close. The tinted patch on a hovered or selected face used to sit a hair under the surface and vanished once the camera came near; it now sits just above it and stays visible at every zoom level.
1.283.015 September 2026
- CAD beta: the bottom of a pocket is now a real edge of the part. Every edge where a pocket floor meets its wall answers a click, and Chamfer or Fillet there rounds or bevels the inside corner, the way a printed pocket is usually strengthened. The new Pocket floor field sets the amount, and a round pocket gets the same on its floor rim.
- CAD beta: an edge that a later cut has eaten through no longer draws its line across the opening, and the part that is gone no longer answers clicks. A rim cut by a slot shows as two arcs, and a wall edge trimmed by a notch responds only along the material that is actually left.
1.282.015 September 2026
- CAD beta: clicking an edge now selects the edge you actually see. At a shallow angle the fat invisible handle of an edge inside a pocket or a box could sit in front of the outer rim, so a click near the outer rim highlighted a line drawn inside the model. The handle now wins only where it lies under the cursor on screen. Chamfer and fillet follow the edge you picked.
1.281.015 September 2026
- New blog post: the CAD editor, three days later. Where the browser CAD stands after 18 releases, the ghost faces that took four fixes, and what comes next.
- The blog index now shows ten posts per page, with Newer and Older links at the bottom. The site map lists every post and tag page again.
- CAD beta: picking an edge now inks the edge itself as a bold colored line, instead of drawing a tube along it. Nothing extra is added next to the model.
1.280.013 September 2026
- CAD beta: the last "ghost walls" are gone. Hovering over a face you already selected, or leaving it, used to flash the original full wall even when cuts had trimmed it; now only the real shape ever lights up.
- CAD beta: sketching on a trimmed face shows its true contour as the backdrop, so you draw against the wall as it actually is at that step, not against the original rectangle.
1.279.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: the inside of a pocket or box can be selected now. Its inner walls, inner corners and edges respond to clicks from above; the pocket's own handle stays in the middle of its opening.
- CAD beta: a chamfer or fillet on the mouth of a cut made on a side wall no longer leaves a ghost plate across the opening.
- CAD beta: an outer face can no longer be grabbed by accident when you aim at something behind it through an opening.
1.278.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: hovering and selecting a face now highlights its REAL shape at the current step. When cuts have eaten part of a face, the highlight follows what is actually left, with an outline of the true contour, instead of flashing the original full rectangle over everything.
1.277.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: cuts made on side walls are now fully selectable. The slanted faces of an angled notch, its edges on the wall, and the notch itself (with move arrows in the wall's plane) all respond to clicks, and Chamfer or Fillet on one of those edges works like everywhere else.
1.276.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: the edges at the BASE of a part are now selectable too, with their own chamfer or fillet per edge, including the bottom rim of cylinders.
- CAD beta: hovering or selecting an edge now draws a clean thick colored line along that edge instead of the fuzzy yellow glow around it.
1.275.112 September 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.275.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: vertical edges can be filleted and chamfered too. Click the corner of a part, press Fillet or Chamfer, click it again to type the size; the treatment runs the full height and shows up in the sketch as well.
- CAD beta: every treated edge keeps its own style. One edge can be a fillet and the next a chamfer on the same part; applying a new style to one edge no longer changes the others. The editor lists each edge with its style and a remove button.
1.274.112 September 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.274.012 September 2026
- CAD beta: the mouth of a pocket or hole now has clickable edges, and Chamfer or Fillet applied to one of them makes a countersink on just that edge.
- CAD beta: only what really exists on the final part can be selected. Leftover faces, edges and hole handles from earlier steps that later cuts removed no longer respond to clicks; to edit an earlier step, click it in the history and the model rewinds to that moment.
1.273.011 September 2026
- The real zoom fix, everywhere. On laptop trackpads one flick used to fire dozens of zoom steps at once, teleporting the view into the model or losing it entirely; a scroll now zooms smoothly and in proportion to the gesture. Zoom also goes toward your cursor, so the spot you point at stays put while you zoom, in every generator and in the CAD beta.
1.272.011 September 2026
- CAD beta: the zoom fix now covers the CAD editor too. Zooming in no longer shoots the camera through the part, zooming out cannot lose it, and when you do dive inside a model you see its interior walls instead of an empty void.
1.271.011 September 2026
- Drawer organizer: the automatic split into printer-bed pieces is gone. You always get one single tray, and when it is larger than a typical bed a note tells you the exact size to check against your printer. The bed size field is gone with it.
- The 3D view zoom is fixed in every generator: zooming in close used to cut the model open, and zooming far out could make it disappear. Both ends are now clamped and the model stays visible.
1.270.011 September 2026
- Drawer organizer: when an organizer is bigger than your printer bed, the split now follows your own dividers instead of cutting straight through the middle. A full-length wall in the layout becomes the joint, so open compartments stay open. Thanks to the user who reported this with a silverware tray.
- Blog: screenshots in posts now span the full page width and open full size in a new tab when clicked.
1.269.011 September 2026
- New blog post: I'm building a CAD editor in the browser. What the hidden beta can already do, with a screenshot, and the link to try it.
1.268.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: fillets are true arcs now. The rounded edge is built as one smooth surface instead of stacked layers, so no more visible steps on the model or in the exported files. Chamfers, countersinks and bottom edges got the same treatment.
1.267.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: edges can finally be picked, and Chamfer or Fillet then applies to just that edge, not the whole rim. The editor lists the treated edges, with one click to go back to the whole rim.
- CAD beta: fillets and chamfers are smooth now. The old ones were built in visible steps and left a thin lip standing above the rim; both are gone, and the removed material matches the set size.
- CAD beta: after a cut eats part of a face, the removed area no longer pretends to be there: clicking where material is gone selects nothing instead of the old full face.
1.266.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: shapes can be anchored the FreeCAD way. Pick the attachment point (a shape's edge or its center), the reference edge, and type the distance in mm or in percent, like 20% from the left. Percent positions follow the part when it is resized.
- CAD beta: a proper toolbar on top: Select, Sketch, Pad, Pocket, Revolve, Fillet and Chamfer, one click each. Fillet and Chamfer apply to the selected feature, with the size set in the editor.
- CAD beta: click any step in the history to rewind the model to that point, edit it, then press Back to latest: the whole part rebuilds with your change. New features added while rewound slot in right after the current step.
- CAD beta: the editor fields are larger and easier to read, and the toolbar keeps one height so the 3D view never shifts while you work.
1.265.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: parts extruded from a side wall are now fully editable in 3D. Their front face takes a click, shows arrows for height and position, accepts a typed height, and a double click starts a new sketch on it, so you can keep building outward level by level.
- CAD beta: every wall and every top edge of such a part can be selected too, with a typed edge length or a push of the whole wall, and this now also works for the top edges of shapes drawn with the Line tool anywhere.
- CAD beta: sketch shapes are drawn in orange, clearly visible against the blue face outline (they used to blend in on side walls).
1.264.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: shapes drawn with the Line tool now have real side faces. Every wall of such a part can be clicked, pushed in or out with an arrow, given an exact edge length, and sketched on with a double click, just like the walls of rectangles.
- CAD beta: the toolbar hint no longer wraps to a second line, so the 3D view stays put while you work and clicks always land where you aim.
1.263.010 September 2026
- CAD beta: holes and pockets can now be grabbed right on the model and moved with the X/Y arrows; a pocket keeps its depth arrow too.
- CAD beta: clicking a hole or pocket now always selects it (the surrounding face used to steal the click).
- CAD beta: selecting a face highlights just that face with a bold outline; the opposite face no longer lights up with it.
- CAD beta: in sketch mode a selected shape shows its distances to the face edges; click a distance line and type a value to pin the shape to that edge, so it keeps the distance when the part is resized.
1.262.09 September 2026
- Generating the rugged box files is noticeably faster, especially for boxes with many compartments. The files themselves are unchanged.
1.261.09 September 2026
- Every generator now remembers the last few 3D views it built: switching tabs or returning to a configuration shows the model instantly instead of rebuilding it.
- The 3D image generator prepares your photo once instead of on every slider move, so the layered preview responds noticeably faster with large photos.
1.260.09 September 2026
- The rugged box 3D view builds about twice as fast and downloads half the data, so live editing feels immediate even on big boxes with many compartments. Re-opening the same configuration is instant. Exported files are unchanged, byte for byte.

- New blog post: broken in a browser I never open. How one anonymous eleven-word bug report from the pegboard generator fixed the 3D view in Firefox across the whole site.
1.258.06 September 2026
- The 3D model view now works in Firefox. It failed to start there before, on every generator, while the 2D previews kept working. Thanks to the person who reported it from the pegboard generator.
1.257.06 September 2026
- New blog post: printed threads, when they work and when to give up. The pitch, depth and clearance numbers behind the jar, PET cap and bolt generators, and the jar lid that closed forever.
1.256.05 September 2026
- One click from settings to files: the Generate button is now Download. It builds your files, scrolls straight to the finished result and opens the download for you, so the ready ZIP can no longer hide below the edge of the screen.
1.255.05 September 2026
- New blog post: out of memory, on purpose. Why every generator runs inside its own memory limit, the three builds that hit the ceiling, and what happens in the five seconds after a 502.
1.254.05 September 2026
- New generator: bolts and nuts. Printable metric fasteners in any size: hex or knurled thumb heads, headless threaded rods, matching nuts and washers. ISO presets M3 to M24, custom pitch, adjustable bolt-to-nut clearance and an optional left-hand thread. The bolt prints standing on its head, so the thread comes out round and clean.
1.253.01 September 2026
- New blog post: what 10,000 preview requests taught me. The person who reshaped one vase 234 times, the funnel that leaks between generate and download, and why errors are telemetry with feelings.
1.252.01 September 2026
- New blog post: I can model, that is not the point. Why a person who knows CAD still built 35 generators, with the honest hour count behind it.
1.251.031 August 2026
- New blog post: every coffee is a feature request. How three sentences from a supporter turned into scoops, printer presets and the Max size button in one day.
1.250.031 August 2026
- Rugged box: compartments can have scoops now, a rounded ramp at the front of every cell so small parts sweep out with a finger.
- Rugged box: tell the generator your build plate (with presets for popular printers) and it warns the moment the printed parts would not fit, and a new Max size button grows the box to fill your plate.
1.249.031 August 2026
- New blog post: supports are a design smell. The 45 degree rule, bridges, teardrop holes and the chamfers that let a model print clean with no support material at all.
1.248.429 August 2026
- Hinge box: dragging the lid height past the base now snaps back instead of erroring on every move.
1.248.329 August 2026
- 3D image: opening the 3D tab before the first generate now explains what to do instead of silently failing in the background.
- Wall hook: the plate size limit message quotes the real limits.
1.248.229 August 2026
- Sharing a page shows a picture now: every generator page and blog post carries a social preview image, and the blog has an RSS feed.
1.248.129 August 2026
- Gears: the bore can be D-shaped now. Set how deep the flat cuts (0.5 mm for N20 gear motors) and the wheel grips a D-shaft with no grub screw.
- New blog post: why gear teeth are a specific curve, and what generator 35 does about it.
1.248.029 August 2026
- New generator number 35: gears. Real involute teeth with module, tooth count, pressure angle and helix angle; spur, helical or herringbone; bore, keyway and hub; and an optional matching pinion with the center distance ready in the print notes.
1.247.028 August 2026
- The front page now opens with the generators themselves, led by the six most used: rugged box, Gridfinity, enclosure, vase, 3D image and drawer organizer.
1.246.128 August 2026
- Maintenance release, no visible changes.
1.246.028 August 2026
- Every generator now has a slider under each numeric field, and the preview waits a second after your last slider move instead of re-rendering mid-drag.
- Every generator can export the whole project as a .alpaco file and import it back later, and the downloaded ZIP always carries that file too.
1.245.127 August 2026
- Rugged box: the Equal button now really means equal. Nested splits in the same direction are merged into one before evening out, so a column shows identical rows instead of a 50/25/25 surprise.
1.245.027 August 2026
- Rugged box divider editor: type how many columns or rows you want when splitting a cell (2 by default) instead of picking from fixed buttons, and a new Equal button makes every split even again after you have dragged things around.
1.244.127 August 2026
- Rugged box: the downloaded ZIP now carries the .alpaco project file too, so every download doubles as a backup of its own settings.
1.244.027 August 2026
- Rugged box: export your whole project as a .alpaco file and import it back any time, big lid art included. A link is for quick sharing, the file is for keeps.
1.243.527 August 2026
- Rugged box: sharing a link or sending a bug report no longer fails when the lid carries big vector art. The art itself stays out of the link (it is too large to travel that way), everything else goes through.

1.243.126 August 2026
- The front page now says how many models the library really holds: 645.
1.243.026 August 2026
- Blog posts now carry tags. Click a tag to see every post on that topic.
- A light and dark switch in the header: pick your theme instead of following the system setting.
- Better link previews and search snippets across the whole site, including every generator page.
1.242.026 August 2026
- Rugged box: clearer dimension names. The footprint is now width and depth, and the vertical split is base height and lid height. Same boxes, same numbers, better words.
1.241.026 August 2026
- New blog post: the vent grilles that never were, and the four-word bug report that fixed them.
1.240.026 August 2026
- Rugged box: every dimension now has a slider next to the number field, and the preview waits one second after your last change instead of re-rendering mid-drag.
1.239.226 August 2026

1.239.126 August 2026
- The running-cost strip on the home page is hidden for now.
1.239.026 August 2026
- New blog post: how the rugged box clip latch stays shut, opens on purpose, and does not get lost in the grass.
1.238.026 August 2026
- The home page shows what running the site has cost so far and how much of it coffees have covered.
1.237.226 August 2026
- Enclosure: ventilation grids (slots and hex) generate again on every selected wall, including the lid.
- Enclosure: shared links now carry your wall openings, so a copied link restores the full setup.
1.237.124 August 2026
- Gridfinity: fixed a bug where one compartment could come out sealed over with a solid roof instead of open.
1.237.024 August 2026
- New logo. The alpaca now sits in the header and footer of every page, and at the top of every generator.
1.236.124 August 2026
- Stat chips above the preview wrap on phones instead of getting cut off.
1.236.024 August 2026

- New blog post: how the 645-model library was put together and why the files are made fresh when you ask for them.
1.233.022 August 2026
- Model library rebuilt: 645 ready-to-print models in 9 categories and 33 types (storage, enclosures, wall mounting, kitchen, home and garden, desk, tabletop, hardware, signs and personalization). Browse by category, then type, then size.
- Every library model now has a "Download STL + 3MF" button that generates the files on the spot, and a "Customize" button that opens the generator with the same values filled in (now also for enclosures, cookie cutters and keycaps).
- Blog and model library links added to the top menu.
1.232.022 August 2026
- New: a [blog](/blog/) with notes from the workshop. First post: why alpaco.it exists.
1.231.022 August 2026
- Stencil, Sign, Stamp, Cookie, Coaster, Keychain, Keycap and Insert: the font picker now actually changes the font.
- Phone layout: the preview no longer sticks to the top of the screen, so the form is reachable and the page stops jumping while you type.
- 3D preview fits the whole model in the frame on every screen size, and keeps your viewing angle when you change a value.
- Enclosure (it-case): the explode slider updates while you drag it; the "Report an issue" button works again.
- Vent grille: no more hairline slivers at the frame edge; rib width starts at 1.6 mm so every grille prints cleanly. Tray dividers follow the same rule.
- Cleaner wording across the site and in generator hints.
